Behind the Borders: Building Battle for Borders

As the launch date draws closer, we want to take you inside the development process of Battle for Borders — how it all started, the challenges we faced, and the key decisions that shaped the game you’re about to play.

The Concept

The idea came from a simple question: What if your real-world presence could give you power in a game? We imagined a world where every step outside meant opportunity — and from there, Battle for Borders was born.

Real World Meets Strategy

We wanted to combine GPS tracking with deep strategy. Every county on the U.S. map became a potential battleground. The key was making it fair — rewarding presence, effort, and smart decision-making, not just movement.

What We Learned During Testing

  • Players love competition — especially when they can see their name on a leaderboard.
  • The cash-out system added a real sense of accomplishment.
  • Many players preferred customizing their identity with colors and textures — so we made it central to the game.

Polishing the Experience

From profile customization and dynamic tutorials to daily tasks and bonus systems, everything was built to guide new players while keeping experienced ones engaged.

We also built in safeguards like:

  • Reward systems that prevent farming without engagement.
  • A fair territory claim system that resets naturally.
  • Leader changes that trigger notifications — so you’re never blindsided.

What’s Next?

We’re already planning:

  • iOS support.
  • More faction-based mechanics.
  • County events and seasonal competitions.
  • Cosmetic unlocks and community rewards.
